The Department of Operations Management invites applications for a vacant PhD scholarship within or preferably across the departments areas of expertise which comprise Operations Management, Performance Management, Supply Chain Management, and Innovation Management. The departments research is typically related to questions about the relevance and functioning of techniques and/or procedures for managing the firms activities.
Examples of recent research include lean manufacturing, state-gate models and project design for innovation management, balanced scorecard and KPI for supply management, non-financial performance for product and process development, lean manufacturing and lean accounting, managing suppliers in 1st, 2nd and 3rd tiers, new manufacturing models in small and medium sized firms, indicators and strategy for social responsibility, accounting calculations as coordination and incentive mechanisms, inter-organisational control systems, and budgeting practices. The departments research is typically empirical, often with the use of qualitative methods drawing on case based approaches, but there is no theory preference.
PhD projects may be financed in a variety of ways. In the department, some are financed by department scholarships, others by scholarships financed by research councils or by the industrial research training programme where companies finance some of the PhD research. Some PhD students bring their own financing e.g. in collaboration with one or more companies.
The department invites applications for the vacant PhD scholarship but also welcomes PhD projects financed in other ways.

General information:
To be awarded a scholarship, one must be enrolled as a PhD student. Enrolment is dependent on the acceptance of an application, including a short project description prepared in co-operation with the Department. The description of the research project should contain a presentation of the intended focus problems, including the theory and methodology expected to be used.
A PhD scholarship runs for a period of 3 years and is only awarded to applicants with a Masters degree.
The scholarship stipulates that the holder carry out tasks equivalent to 840 work hours.
Salary and appointment as a PhD student will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finances agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.
In addition, all applicants must submit an application that includes a completed compulsory application form, copy of Master’s degree certificate or other certificates of a corresponding level, brief curriculum vitae (CV), and a list of papers and publications.
A committee of experts in the field in question will consider all applications. Assessment of the applicants will be based on the quality and relevance of the project, including an evaluation of the applicants ability to accomplish it.
