1. Nationality: Citizens of the Republic of Indonesia
2. Age: Below 40 years old as of April 1, 2006 (include 40 years old)
3. Occupation: Applicants must be NIP holders such as :
   • Government officials (employees of state owned enterprises are excluded), or
   • Lecturers of state universities or lecturers of state universities assigned to private universities by KOPERTIS (lecturers/researchers who are employed by state university after the university become BHMN are excluded)
   • NIP must be issued by National Civil Service Agency (Badan Kepegawaian Negara)
4. Working Experience: At least two (2) years after getting permanent status (pegawai negeri sipil tetap) in the status mentioned above at the time of application.
5. Academic Background: Bachelor degree holder (S1) (D4 is not acceptable)
6. Permission: Applicants must obtain permission for their applications from appropriate department or person.
7. Ineligibility: Applicants must:
   • Not serving in any form of military services (Police officers are acceptable)
   • Not have already taken a Master degree (obtained overseas or domestically)
   • Not hold a scholarship that would give overlapping benefits.
8. Others:
   • Applicants from regional areas and women are greatly encouraged to apply.
   • Applicants who pass Final Selection must participate in Pre-departure English Training in Jakarta for about two (2) months.
   • JDS fellows are NOT allowed to apply for, or to take exams on, Doctor course during their study in Japan through JDS.

   Referring to the list of accepting universities, you consider well and choose carefully which course/university you would like to study for Master degree. • Application forms and necessary documents missing the deadline shall NOT be accepted. (Applications by hand or post must be received by JICE JDS Project Office in Indonesia by 17:30, Tuesday, December 6, 2005.)
• Once submitted, application documents will not be returned for any reason.

• Note:

1. First Selection (Examining Application Documents)
• Application Documents will be examined by professors of accepting university from late December 2005 to January 2006
• Only successful applicants will be notified the selection result in late January 2006
2. Second Selection (English Test)
• Applicants will take IELTS test in Jakarta in early February 2006
• Applicants who submitted a copy of proof of English proficiency (International TOEFL/Institutional TOEFL 530, Computer-Based TOEFL 197, or IELTS 6.0 or above) obtained in 2004 and 2005 at the time of application will be exempted to take English test. (Please note that NOT all applicants, who are exempted to take English test, might proceed to Third Selection based on the result of English test.)
• Only successful applicants will be notified the selection result in middle of February 2006
3. Third Selection (Technical Interview)
• Applicants will take an interview with a Japanese university professor in Jakarta on late February 2006
• Applicants for applying to IUJ (Economics) and Hitotsubashi University (Economics/Public Policy) are requested to take a test on basic mathematics at Third Selection
• Only successful applicants will be notified the selection result in early March 2006
4. Final Selection (Comprehensive Interview & Medical Check-up)
• Applicants will take an interview with the JDS Operating Committee members, and Medical check-up, in Jakarta in early March 2006
• Only successful applicants will be notified the selection result in middle of March 2006.
5. University Placement
• The Government of Indonesia with the collaboration of that of Japan determines the university placement of JDS fellows. No objection on the placement decision shall be accepted.
• Based on the placement result, successful applicants who pass Final Selection will be required to apply for each university. Once they receive a letter of acceptance from a university, they will be accorded the status of JDS fellows.
