[Indonesia] 3 Positions at PT. Kaltim Prima Coal
PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) operates a coal mine in Sangatta East Kalimantan and is one of the largest export coal mines in the world is an Indonesian company owned by PT. Bumi Resources. Coal Production in 2006 is expected to exceed 30 Mtpa and there are plans to further expansion in 2007 and beyond.
In material movement terms, KPC is also one of the largest open pit mines in the world with a fleet of over 200 haul trucks and 30 shovels moving over 2 millions tones of material per day.
Opportunities exist for a seasoned, high caliber, professional to join the Company with job assignment in Sangatta - East Kalimantan for the positions of:
1. Superintendent Reliability & Improvement
(Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure Maintenance & Civil Projects)
Key management elements of the position include:
• Support coal chain operations to develop effective asset maintenance strategies by using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis method.
• Influence other PID departments with facts, data and comprehensive analysis in order to implement and execute the iroad map of effective maintenance produced by the RCM analysis.
• Lead and direct a team to analyse major or frequent failures using suitable Root Cause Failure Analysis method and provide improvement or corrective recommendations to the customers.
• Assess whether each failure mode in hidden or evident and advise Maintenance section what the failure consequences would be if the failure were to occur unexpectedly.
• Optimize the utilization of Ellipse for developing a strategic maintenance and an investigation improving the reliability of the coal chain and Power Plant.
• Analyse cost of spares, stock decision and optimization and find alternative OEM part when required.
• Action regular audit on improvement projects that have been rolled out in operations and projects to assess the sustainability, highlight slippage and their counter measures should they exist and forward feedback to Manager IMCP.
• Analyse and review statistic (KPI), operations information and equipment and associated systems to plan Reliability Maintenance and improvement projects, monitor progress against plan and enhance customer service within company guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Tertiary qualification (S1) in Mechanical, Electrical, Processing, Industrial or Mining Engineering with 10 years plus of relevant industry/management experience.
• Familiar with improvement and problem solving methodology such as TQM, 6 Sigma, Kanzen
• Posses good and strong Leadership and has sound experience in Maintenance Management system.
• Strong analytical analysis and negotiation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skill (written & oral) in both bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Able to operate computer application software such as MS Words and Statistics Application
2. Mechanical Engineers
(Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability & Improvement)
Key management elements of the position include:
• Check any mechanical faults on equipment and give suggestions to maintenance or operation personnel on how to do repairs if required.
• Tender repairs/modification to contractors if it will be more efficient and economical than if it is done by KPC.
• Make technical and cost calculation with assistance from mechanic drafting section.
• Liaise with condition monitoring engineer or relevant personnel to improve or maintain reliability of equipment
• Make an invitation to bid for contractors to find the best contractor that fulfils requirements.
• Supervise trial run of the repaired/modified equipment before being returned to the operator in order to ensure that the equipment works well.
• Initiate correspondence with foreign or national consultants in case a matter or problem is too specific and will be better if handled by consultants.
• Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for mechanical jobs that are still not equipped with an SOP.
• Make report to relevant working units on damages that have occurred to equipment and recommend solutions to prevent future damage (failure analysis).
Qualifications and Experience:
• Tertiary qualification (S1) in Mechanical Engineering with 3 - 5 years experience in Mining or similar industry.
• Understand improvement and problem solving methodology such as TQM, 6 Sigma, Kanzen
• Have attended Leadership and Maintenance Management training courses.
• Strong analytical analysis and negotiation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skill (written & oral) in both bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Able to operate computer application software such as MS Words and Statistics Application
3. Senior Auditor
(Reporting to the Superintendent Safety Audit)
Key management elements of the position include:
• Lead safety audit teams in the planning and execution of Fatality Prevention Element Audits of KPC Departments and Registered Contractors.
• Lead safety audit teams in the planning and execution of: (- CMS Type of Work Assessments for new or existing Contractors requiring approval for additional Types of Work in a diverse range of field; - Baseline Audits for new Contractors approximately 3-months after the commencement of their initial contract; - Special Request Audits, which will be conducted as directed by KPC Safety Improvement and Contracts Committees).
• Provide formal feedback on the finding and recommendations of audits and assessments to KPC and Contractor management.
• Provide support to contractors and KPC departments on the implementation of the improvement actions as highlighted within the audit and assessment report.
• Provide training, coaching and guidance to new and junior Auditors.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Tertiary qualifications (S1) in Occupational Health and Safety Science with 5 years working experience in occupational health and safety, preferably from a mining environment
• Excellent report writing both in Indonesian and English.
• Excellent knowledge and skill of process audit.
• Through knowledge of safety standards and relevant safety legal requirement
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skill (written and oral) in bahasa Indonesia and English.
