In the MaSe-team (Matrices having Structure) of the Department of Computer Science, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, there are openings for 2 PhD students working on projects in Numerical Linear Algebra, more precisely structured matrices, e.g., rank structured matrices, low displacement rank matrices, etc., and their applications.
The students will work in the MaSe-team (Matrices having Structure) of researchers led by Prof. Marc Van Barel. The incentive in these projects is to develop novel algorithms and the corresponding theory to perform matrix computations with structured matrices.
Candidates: We are looking for candidates having an M.Sc. degree and a strong background in (applied) mathematics and/or numerical analysis. A good knowledge of the English language is required. Please send applications including your Curriculum Vitae, list of three references, list of publications with a summary of your M.Sc. thesis and a cover letter stating your motivation to Prof. Marc Van Barel.
Project term and salary: Enrolment and salary are according to the general rules outlined by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Enrolment will start as soon as possible. The Ph.D. student will be appointed for a period of four times 1 year. After the first year an evaluation will take place.
